Cala Morell

Cala Morell is situated 7.5km from Cituadella, on Menorca's North West coast. If tranquillity and a break away from the daily rigours of life is what you are looking for then you will find it in Cala Morell.

Cala Morell has a small sandy beach and the bay is surrounded by strange rock formations. The rock formations date back to the Bronze and Iron Ages and there are many prehistoric caves to explore. The caves are decorated with carvings and some even have windows cut into the rock. They are surprisingly refined for the era in which they were formed - some have central pillars supporting the roof. It is obvious that they were inhabited at some time and also used as burial chambers. it is common to see tourists scrambling over the rocks, exploring.

The small beach and harbour are reached by steps on either side of the bay, or you can drive down and park in the car park right beside the beach. Good snorkelling and swimming can be had from the rocky promontories jutting out into the sea.

Cala Morell is the place to go for complete relaxation. There is only one supermarket and a couple of restaurants and the resort exudes calm. A good base, as Ciutadella is only a short drive away, Cala Morell offers a piece of unspoilt Menorca.
