Cala Galdana

Cala Galdana, or Santa Galdana ('Queen of the Coves'), can be found on Menorca's South coast on the road from Ferreries.

The resort is famous for its beautiful, horseshoe-shaped, gently-shelving sandy beach, framed by cliffs made from limestone and covered in pine trees.

The water is fairly shallow and the beach is regarded as safe for swimming, making it popular with families. The usual beach facilities are available, including sunbed hire, water-ski and pedalo rental.

The resort has become more commercialised over recent years, and tends to be dominated by 3 large hotels. Nevertheless, the beach, bay and views out to sea do ensure that this resort remains one of Menorca's most beautiful coves.

A large number of restaurants overlook the beach, which can get very busy at times. Evening entertainment can be found predominantly in the hotels in the resort, which are also usually open to non-residents. Cala Galdana has its own pharmacy and Medical Centre.

From Cala Galdana, it is also possible to explore some of the quieter beaches - Cala Mitjana, Cala Trebaluger and Cala Macarella.

Cala Galdana is a self-contained resort and as such is one of Menorca's most popular holiday destinations, offering all the facilities for a family beach holiday.
