Fornells, an ancient fishing village set in a natural harbour, has been made famous for its seafood restaurants, featuring the local speciality of 'caldereta de llangosta' (lobster stew). It's reported that King Juan Carlos of Spain visits every year to sample this culinary delight.

Elsewhere around the island you can find typical Spanish restaurants, serving tapas and other traditional Spanish meals. Menorcan island cooking relies heavily on seafood and it is common to see a wide variety of fish dishes on the menu. Other tastes are catered for extremely well and most restaurants offer a wide choice of chicken, beef, pork dishes (steak, kebabs, escalopes, etc.) together with pizza and pasta choices.

Most restaurants are child friendly, offering children's menus, featuring the most common favourites (nuggets, fish fingers, burgers, sausage, pizza and spaghetti bolognese). The Binibeca area offers plenty of choice for those visiting the south-eastern end of the island.

For those less keen on Spanish cooking, Cala'n Porter has a number of English-run bars and restaurants. The island now even has an Indian restaurant on the outskirts of Mahon and there are a small number of Chinese restaurants.
